Michael has written a novella called The Coyote And The Ginning Rib, which is a series of vignettes and sketches that distort time to tell the story of Felicita Delgado. Set predominantly in Tulia, Texas during the 1970's, Felicita works at a cotton gin after having moved with her mother from Morelias, Mexico. A decision Felicita makes causes her life to suddenly and drastically change, leading her down a road she never expected. The book explores the meaning of existence we all search out over the course of our lives, and the humanity of violence.

Michael is also compiling a book of his poetry called The Weight of God You Learn as a Child which will explore human uprooting and will wrestle with the scars and beauties of a conservative Christian upbringing along with the departure thereof. Two of the book's poems were chosen for publication in the literary journal Persona for the 2010 edition, which will be published in August.
